Hispanic-Serving Institution

Hispanic-Serving Institution

San José City College is proud to be a Hispanic-Serving Institution, a distinction it has proudly held for many years.

What is an HSI?

To qualify as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), an educational institution must serve a student population that is at least 25% Latino and be designated as eligible under Title III and Title V of the Higher Education Act of 1965.

At San José City College, being an HSI is about more than just meeting federal requirements. Our commitment goes beyond enrollment numbers. We offer academic programs, extracurricular activities, events, and student services that celebrate the diverse cultural heritage of our Latinx students. We strive to foster a sense of sociocultural validation and belonging, ensuring our support is tailored to their unique needs.
