Admissions & Records Office

The Admissions & Records Office provides the following services to students:

  • College admission assistance
  • Course registration
  • Management of academic records and grades
  • Residency determination
  • Transcript evaluation
  • Enrollment verifications
  • Issuance of official transcripts

You can find us on the first floor of the Robert N. Change Student Center.

Associated Student Government (ASG)

All students are encouraged to join the Associated Student Government (ASG).

ASG aims to enhance student life by focusing on:

  • Academics
  • Civic engagement
  • Intercultural development
  • Social justice
  • Well-being

Through advocacy and action, ASG strives to create a transformative and enriching experience for all students.

ASG meetings are held most Wednesday afternoons in the Student Center, Room SC-115.

CalWORKs Program

Attention Students!

Are you receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) cash aid? The California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program is here to support you!

CalWORKs offers coordinated support services to help you succeed in your education and achieve long-term self-sufficiency.

Visit us on the second floor of the Student Center, Room SC-216-C.

Counseling Department

Academic Counselors are available to meet with students in-person, online, and via telephone to provide academic, career, and personal counseling.

Students may schedule counseling appointments online via eSARS or by contacting the Counseling Department by calling 408- 288-3750. 

The Counseling Department is located in the Student Center, Room SC-201 (second floor).

Dreamer Resource Center

The Advocacy Leadership for imMigrant Access Support and Services (ALMASS) serves as the voice of Assembly Bill 540 (AB 540) and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) students at San José City College.

The Dreamer Resource Center (DRC) that serves as the home for     AB 540 and DACA students and their families is located in the  Student Center, Room SC-203.

EOPS Program

Do you need help paying for textbooks?

Do you need a student educational plan?

Do you want to graduate or transfer to a four-year university?

If so, you are encouraged to apply to the Extended Opportunity Programs & Services (EOPS) program.  For additional information, please visit the EOPS office in the Student Center, Room SC-201.

Financial Aid Office

All San José City College students are encouraged to apply for financial aid.  It’s not too late to apply for financial aid for the 2024-2025 Academic Year.

Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the California Dream Act Application (CADAA), or California College Promise Grant application.

The Financial Aid Office is located in the Student Center (first floor).

Food Assistance

San José City College is proud to offer free food assistance for students.  Students are welcome to visit the Jaguar Market located on the first floor of the Student Center.  The Jaguar Market has grab-n-go food along with fresh produce, and bagged, boxed, and canned foods requiring preparation.

San José City College also partners with Second Harvest of Silicon Valley to provide free food distributions twice per month on Fridays.  Free food is available to students, employees, and the community.

NextUp & Guardian Scholars Programs

The NextUp & Guardian Scholars programs offer eligible current and former foster youth support and services including, but not limited to, academic counseling, textbooks, school supplies, transportation, and emergency financial assistance.

Student Accessibility Services

Student Accessibility Services (SAS) provides specialized support services and instruction that allow students with disabilities to equitably benefit from the college experience and meet their academic goals.  SAS provides support services including, but not limited to, adaptive furniture, deaf and hard of hearing services, note taking services, real time captioners, and specialized tutoring.

Student Health Services

Student Health Services provides medical, behavioral and mental health, and health professionals to provide high quality integrated healthcare services that promote the physical and psychological well-being of students, treats minor health issues, helps navigate the healthcare and insurance systems, and strives to empower students to have a healthy and successful academic experience.

Student Health Services provides free Fentanyl test strips and Narcan to students, employees, and community members.  Fact sheets and online videos are posted on the Student Health Services webpage.

Narcan is also available free via a vending machine located on the first floor of the Student Center next to the Jaguar Market.

Transfer Center

The Transfer Center is available to help students learn more about four-year colleges and universities by providing academic counseling, personalized appointments with four-year university admission representatives, and transfer events.

The Transfer Center is located in the Student Center, Room SC-216-A.

Tutorial Services

San José City College provides free tutorial services to current students online and in-person in a variety of subjects.  Tutorial services are available through the Reading & Writing Center and Tutorial Center.  Tutorial services are available on a one-to-one basis and group tutoring format upon request.  Tutors are available by drop-in and by appointments.

Tutorial services are available in the Learning Resource Center located on the first floor of the César E. Chávez Library.

Veterans Services

San José City College Veterans Services is committed to helping military veterans, their eligible dependents, and their families as they transition from military to civilian life in pursuit of a higher education.

The Veterans Resource Center offers a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment to help students learn of the many support programs and services offered by the college and external entities. 

The Veterans Resource Center is located second floor of the   Student Center, Room SC-215.

Welcome Center/Information Desk

San José City College students are encouraged to get a free college photo identification card.  College photo identification cards serve as a form of identification and may provide for discounts are local merchants.

San José City College students are eligible to receive a Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) EcoPass to ride the VTA light rail and VTA busses to travel to and from the College.
