Yes, all counseling sessions at SJCC are confidential, adhering to state and federal privacy laws. Information shared during sessions will not be disclosed without the student's consent, except in cases where disclosure is required by law.

While SJCC's mental health services are designed to support all students, the International Student Program provides additional assistance, including:

  • Personal Counseling: Addressing challenges unique to international students, such as cultural adjustment and homesickness.
  • Academic Counseling & Orientation: Helping with course selection, educational plans, and transfer planning.

  • Encourage Them to Seek Help: Suggest they contact Student Health Services or the International Student Program for support.
  • Offer to Accompany Them: Sometimes, accompanying a friend to their first counseling session can provide comfort.
  • Know Emergency Contacts: In urgent situations, don't hesitate to contact campus police or emergency services.
